BMW Pays Tribute To One Of Its Supercars
April 30, 2008

Whenever you pay homage or tribute, it’s your way of showing respect to that certain person or object. People have various ways of paying homage. Some would put up a monument; some would write a song while others would deliver a speech. But for a car company like BMW, doing those things mentioned above wouldn’t do justice to one the cars they would like to pay homage to. So instead, they just decided to come up with a new concept model for it. So, please give a round of applause to today’s version of the BMW M1 Homage concept car.
Sporting the color red, the new BMW M1 Homage concept is the company’s way of honoring one of its popular sports cars released in the 70’s and 80’s. Compared to what it looked like before, the modern version now sports a slicker set of mugs, lowered rear windows and a more ferocious front. Too ferocious that if you try looking at its headlights, you’ll feel like the car is actually glowering at you. Aside from its savage looking front, the new BMW M1 Homage concept carries a sportier look than its ancestor. According to rumors, this red hot sports car will be carrying a 5-liter V10 engine that would give it a burst of speed to rival its other competitors.
While the new BMW M1 Homage concept car is still currently a computer generated model, don’t be surprised if this car or something that looks like it pops out of BMW’s production plants in the not-so-distant future as the company has expressed interest in producing supercars once more. So if this car just got your mouth watering, then start praying fervently that BMW produces one soon.

Think you can be like Marvel’s resident millionaire Tony Stark? The same guy who wows the ladies, cashes in the big checks and wears a red and yellow (or gold, depending on how he’s colored) armor in his spare time and fights crime? Well, if you think you can, then one thing you need to do is find a way to hook yourself up with his newest ride: the Audi R8.
Driven by Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) in the upcoming Iron Man movie, this sleek sports car packs a punch (a huge one as a matter-of-fact) and isn’t just for show. I mean, if you’re Tony Stark, you wouldn’t settle for anything less, right? Now what makes this bad boy a favorite of our armored hero? Well, let’s start off first with its powerful engine. The Audi R8 uses a 4.2-liter engine that can give you a maximum speed of 414 hp. If you thought that was fast, then ask yourself this: in how many seconds can this baby hit 60mph? The answer: 4 seconds. Now that’s fast. Aside from having a powerful engine, much like the Iron Man armor, the Audi R8 relies on the use of technological advanced gadgets like a 6-speed manual transmission robotic gearbox called the R-tronic gearbox and magneto rheological dampers for its suspension. And of course, it comes with a high-end and state-of-the-art sound system from Bang & Olufsen, to help bring out the player in you.
So if you feel like you can strut and fill the shoes of Tony Stark, then you’d better get yourself an Audi R8. In case you can’t afford to get one now, then just try catching him cruise around town when the new Iron Man hits the big screen. Or better yet, if you just happen to have a sports car of your own and you just want to spruce or customize it to make it look more similar to the Audi R8 used in the movie, then try hooking it up with some auto parts that you think might help get that dream ride of yours up and running like an Audi R8. Better hurry though as Mr. Stark has his sights set on stealing all the beautiful women.

Stealing A Glance At Ferrari’s New Sports Car
April 24, 2008

Ferrari fans, you can now start rejoicing. By October of this year (be sure to block that month off in your calendar if I were you), Ferrari will be unveiling its newest contribution to the sports car line at the Paris Motor Show. And if the new car will end up looking like the one shown above (hopefully painted in red, no less), then this is one sports car that motorists will be definitely look forward to.
Christened the Ferrari F149 California GT (or Project 149 to some), this new sports car is looking to be one of the anticipated releases coming from Ferrari this year. Based on the report from TopSpeed.com, the new Ferrari F149 California GT will be equipped with a new 4.7-liter, direct fuel injection engine that’s capable of hitting the maximum speed of 480 to 500 horsepower. It has a seven speed gearbox that can help you hit 100km/h in less than 4 seconds. The sports car will also come with standard ceramic brakes, a double clutch system and a foldable metal roof. For now though, you’ll just have to content yourselves with the leaked pictures of the Ferrari F149 California GT’s test shots posted on the Internet.

If you feel that something’s missing from your Bentley Continental GT Speed and you want to have it upgrade to a newer model, then you’re in luck. Thanks to the partnership formed by Bentley and the Milan-based design house Zagato, nine lucky owners of a standard-designed Bentley Continental GT Speed will be given a chance to upgrade their standard (dare I say ordinary?) Bentley Continental into the new Continental GTZ car that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show this year.
Have we gotten your attention now? Good. So just how much do you need to fork out just to get this upgrade? Oh, just a “measly” sum 550,000 Euro, which when you think about it, is good enough to feed a state or even a small country. But for the sake of being one of the few and proud owners of an upgraded Bentley Continental GTZ, that’s just a small price to pay, right?
Once upgraded to a Continental GTZ, the Bentley Continental will be given a new interior, starting with a new set of leather seats. The exterior of the car will also be changed and will be modeled after the design used by Zagato on the Continental GTZ car featured at the Geneva Motor Show. Owners won’t have to worry about the warranty becoming void because the design team will retain the mechanics of the car, keeping the factory warranty intact and allowing Bentley to certify the upgrade they made.
Now if you’re sole ambition in life is to stand out among the rest of the crowd or be part of an elite group, here’s your chance. You better hurry though as only nine owners will only get to have the bragging rights of sporting an upgrade and unique Continental GTZ.

Vintage Ferrari Testarossa On eBay
April 22, 2008

Are you an avid collector of vintage automobiles and are on the hunt for the next four-wheeled-monster to add to your collection? Or are you thinking of getting back into daddy’s good graces after he caught you tearing up the house with all your friends? Well if you have that much money to spare, then this car could be a key addition to your collection, or the key to your daddy’s heart.
This vintage car that I’m referring to is actually the 1956 Ferrari 500 Testarossa. This classic automobile has made the headlines again since its currently being sold on eBay for an astounding $5 million. Now if you’re wondering why this sports car captured the headlines and why it carries a huge price tag, here’s why. Aside from being considered a classic, the 1956 Ferrari 500 Testarossa is quite a catch because it has a very, very limited production run of only 20 units. That’s right, it’s that limited. So if you end up buying this sports car, you’ll be joining an elite group who happens to own a limited and vintage automobile.
Of course, the 1956 Ferrari 500 Testarossa wouldn’t look this dapper if it had not undergone any form of restoration. But even if it did, the restoration process it went through met the highest standards possible. The sports car is now powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and a four-speed manual transmission.
Aside from taking home the Testarossa, the winning bidder will also take home a series of photographs dating back from the car’s first racing victory in 1957 at the Laguna Seca. So, better fork up that money and break open that savings account if you have any plans of making this car one of your very own or one daddy’s precious four-wheeled babies.

Last time, we caught a glimpse of the Rolls Royce’s RR4 cruising the streets of Munich, Germany. Looks like Mercedes-Benz didn’t want to feel left out so the company decided to do a little testing of their own. And judging by its looks, Mercedes-Benz’s new four-wheel-baby has the potential of becoming one of the bad boys in the industry. So ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the SL65 AMG Black Series.
The upcoming SL65 AMG Black Series looks like the type of sports car that you really don’t want to mess with. Just check out what its creators have been able to successfully do. Initially, the twin-turbo 6.0 V12 engine that they built for the SL65 AMG Black Series was only capable of producing 604 horsepower. After a couple of minor tweaks, the new twin-turbo engine is now capable of dishing out 670 horsepower. That’s a whopping 66 increase in horsepower, making it even faster than the SLR McLaren 772. Aside from having an engine that can give rival sports car a run for their money, the SL65 AMG Black Series also shed a total of 570 pounds to achieve a lighter curb-weight of 4,080 pounds. Its developers were able to pull this off by utilizing carbon fiber panels for the car’s hood, roof and fenders. Its suspension system will make use of a set of Active Body Control dampener units instead of the springs and struts found in your regular suspension systems.
Of course, Mercedes made sure not leave out the interior of the SL65 AMG Black Series. Based on reports, the car‘s interiors will be wrapped in leather, equipped with carbon fiber shell racing seats and will be given a flat steering wheel. The current plan right now is to have the SL65 AMG Black Series debut by 2009 in the US. It will come in a white, black, red and silver finish and will sell for $200,000 and only a handful of these will be sold (approximately 350 units). So if you’re interested in getting one, better line-up soon before this baby disappears from your sight for good.

Autopartswarehouse Downloads Lamborghini on iTunes
April 18, 2008

What happens when the producer of one of the most lavish sports car in the automotive industry and the developer of the most popular MP3 player in the world today team-up? Well, then you end up getting a series of downloadable podcasts from iTunes entitled “The World of Lamborghini” that gives you a retrospective of the different four-wheeled “hotties” that has sprung out of Lamborghini’s production plants.
So why did these two conglomerates decide to team-up? Well, it’s actually real simple. The partnership was formed with a goal to generate interest for the Lamborghini brand worldwide by providing clips of all the sports cars that the company has produced over the years. To successfully pull it off, Lamborghini created a total of five podcasts that can be downloaded from iTunes for free. The five podcasts will focus on the following topics: Lamborghini’s uncompromising, 1 million Euro, Reventon, “Making a Lamborghini your Lamborghini (which is the company’s new Ad Personam personalization program)” and “Closer to the Road”, which is a three-part series. With this number of podcasts that were uploaded in iTunes, one just has to wonder how much Lamborghini paid off Steve Jobs just to have those five podcasts available for download on iTunes. When you sit back and think about it, what Lamborghini is doing is one hell of a marketing strategy.
So if you’re a proud owner of a Lamborghini sports car or you’re just an avid fan of the brand who wants to get more information about them, then log on to iTunes and start downloading the five podcasts of “The World of Lamborghini” into your iPod. Now if you don’t have iPod (for some reason that only you would know), now would probably be the best time to get one.
