The new coating, which is also applied to the exhaust of the car, prevents the transfer of heat from the tailpipe and protects the heat sensitive parts around it. Aside from limiting heat transfer, the Diamond Black plasma-sprayed coating is tough enough to withstand mechanical damage, thermal shock and is resistant to vibration.
