The Mercedes E-Class Is Coming

September 30, 2008

Mercedes is getting busy as of late. And what it’s focusing on right now is its new 2010 E-Class series of vehicles. So what’s in store for this new vehicle line from Mercedes? Well, just a couple of appearances at a number of top automotive shows starting next year. Now that’s how you hype up a new series of vehicles.

The 2010 Mercedes E-Class is set to debut at Geneva Motor Show and the Frankfurt Auto Show, which will be held next year. A sedan and a station wagon version will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show while a coupe-convertible version will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto show. What makes this new vehicle series important to Mercedes is that it’s being pegged as the next vehicle to replace its CLS line of vehicles starting on 2011.

So why has Mercedes decided to push for the E-Class line and set aside its CLS series? That’s because the E-Class line will be based on the company’s new ConceptFASCINATION design theme, which is set to debut at the Paris Auto Show this year. This new vehicle design will give the E-Class line a touch of sleekness and luxury. Upfront, expect to see a pair of quad headlights, a rhomboid shape for the vehicle’s body, as well as a V-themed shape for its interior.

Aside from giving this vehicle line a touch of pizzazz, Mercedes is also working on ensuring that it’s 2010 E-Class will be able to dish out the quality performance that the company is known for. Inside the new vehicle will be a direct injection V8 engine that’s capable of producing 550 horsepower. No word on how fast it will go but given the power it’s dishing out, it’s safe to assume that it’s going to be quite fast. Hybrid versions of the vehicle are also expected to be produced.

If this new E-Class line has got you interested, look forward to seeing more of it next year at the Geneva and Frankfurt shows. Don’t be surprised if it makes a splash during these two events.

Every brand has a flagship bearer. But even these flagship bearers know that it’s only a matter of time before someone or something replaces you. Just like change and death, it’s inevitable. With that being said, it’s time for us to give a toast for what will be the last ride of one of Bentley’s well-known vehicle, the Arnage.

So how will Bentley pay its respect to this once proud vehicle line? Well, by creating a final series of vehicles for it. A fitting tribute don’t you think? Aptly dubbed the Final Series, this new Arnage will be making its appearance at next week’s Paris Auto Show. And to add some touch of exclusivity, Bentley has limited the number of units it will produce for this Arnage to only 150. That’s right, it’s going to be that few. So if you’re lucky enough to get one, you won’t be seeing too much of these sitting next to you on the road.

Now what did Bentley package with the new Final Series Arnage? Well for starters, the company equipped its flagship car with its ever reliable 6.75-liter V-8 twin turbo engine. This means that you can expect the car to hit the boundaries of 500bhp and 738 lb.-ft of torque. That’s style and power for you right there.

On top of having its trusty engine in tow, the Final Series Arnage was also given an array of new features that will make you want to have one. It’s been equipped with four Bentley umbrellas, which you can see mounted in the boot of the car. It also has a rear cocktail cabinet, including a bespoke stainless steel flask. This is in case you get the urge to wine and dine while you’re cruising down the street with your hot date. And just to show you how proud Bentley is of its Arnage vehicle, the company littered its insides with badges that show the words Final Series. It’s Bentley’s way of telling you that this is it folks.

Since the Arnage will be retiring after 10 years of service, what vehicle series will take its place once it’s gone? Well, Bentley hasn’t announced that yet, although they did confirm that the next flagship car will be more posh that the departing Arnage.

So stand up, raise your glasses, throw up that salute and let’s all pay tribute to the once mighty and powerful Bentley Arnage.

Looks like Lamborghini’s cover has been blown. For weeks, people have been speculating what the company’s new sports vehicle will be like even before it hits the stage at the Paris Auto Show this October. And at the same time, Lamborghini has been doing its best to keep it a secret, only revealing what seems to be small portions of the car. While no new image has been released, insiders now have confirmed what the vehicle will be like and what name it will carry.

According to reports, the new Lamborghini will be a four-door concept. This is a bit of a surprise considering that most Lambos sport a two-door design. It could possibly run using an engine that‘s a bit smaller than the 5.0-liter V-10 engine used by its Gallardo relative. Sources also say that this engine, which could be supplied by Audi, will be a direct-injection engine that’s twin-turbocharged. With a small engine, this could make the new model one of Lamborghini’s smaller releases to date. The engine will be placed behind the front axle of the car, just right in front of the driver. Aside from the engine, the new Lambo will also be sporting a four-wheel drive set-up.

So what’s the new Lambo car going to be called? Well, it’s been christened Urus. Striking isn’t it? No, it’s not a name of a Greek or Roman god, although it does sound like one. The Urus is actually a huge ox-like cattle that was in existence a hundred years ago. So, good luck trying to find a live one now as a point-of-comparison.

After it’s unveiling at this year’s Paris Auto Show, Lamborghini will commence production of 3,000 units of its Urus on a yearly basis. Here’s hoping that the rims we’re looking at right now isn’t the only thing that’s cool about this new Lambo vehicle.

You know why the mere mention of the name Lamborghini connotes a sleek and fast car speeding down the road, right? That’s because whatever comes out of their production house is really (and we mean really) fast. So fast that you wonder if there’s anyone who’s actually crazy enough to tweak one to make it even faster. Well, apparently there is a group who are that crazy. Meet the folks of Underground Racing.

Based in North Carolina, this tuning company decided that the power given off by the current Lamborghini Gallardo just isn’t enough to satisfy them. In the popular words of Mick Jagger, “they can’t get no satisfaction.” So what did they do? Well, they got a Lamorghini Gallardo and tuned it up. Sounds like a normal thing to do right? Not until you hear what they actually did. After some fine tuning, they came up with a Lambo that can dish out a (place your chosen expletive here) 1,025 bhp. That’s right, 1,025 (again, your chosen expletive here) horsepower. The catch here though is that it needs to run on race fuel to get going. But who cares, right? And despite the tweaking, the guys from Underground Racing were still able to maintain the four-wheel drive and stability system of the Gallardo.

Since the engine is that powerful, the guys from Underground racing had to make some changes to the exterior of the car. So when you look behind it, you’ll see a portion of its monstrous engine sprouting at the back. But don’t worry; they made sure that it still looks good enough to be ogled at by those staring at it.

So if you want to see more of this nasty ride, be sure to check out the video posted by Underground Racing at YouTube. It’s definitely a life changing experience.

If you’re a thief who’s been engaging in the crime business for so long, the one thing you should remember is to always use an inconspicuous vehicle so that the authorities would have difficulties finding you. And if you’re planning to pull off more than one heist, you can either ditch the vehicle you’re currently using for another one, or you’ll just have to find a way to pull of the heist as fast as you can. Unfortunately, this thief from Salt Lake forgot about all these.

This incident actually took place last Thursday when Steve Syme, aged 50, walked into the lot of Steve Harris Imports, located at 800 S. Main, and carjacked a burgundy-colored 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello. The car, which was reportedly worth $130,000, was just one-of-its-kind in Salt Lake. Okay, so you’re in a car shop and you’re planning to steal a car to pull off a number of heists; why in the hell would you choose a car that’s both an eye catcher and one-of-a-kind? That’s almost like running around without your clothes on. You’re definitely going to be spotted among the many normal and fully clothed individuals around you.

Of course, had the Steve Syme sped away with the car and sold it in a different state, then he probably would be enjoying the money he got out of it. But the guy decided to stop by Paul Thomas Jewelers and steal a diamond ring worth $1,900. Again, had he escaped the city with the car and the diamond, authorities would find it difficult to catch him. But being the smart thief that he was, Syme decided to drive (still, with the stolen Ferrari) by a pawnshop just two blocks from the jewelry shop. Talk about not using your head.

As a result, Syme was accosted by the police 90 minutes later and was charged for auto-theft, second-degree felony, third-degree felony theft, theft by deception and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This just tells us that any type of action – even criminal acts unfortunately – should be well thought off. And if you’re planning on getting a getaway vehicle, make sure it’s not a one-of-a-kind luxury car.

Not only are the Europeans lucky to have their currency – the Euro – escalate in value, they also happen to be lucky when it comes to cars. How is that? Well, for one, it seems car manufacturers enjoy releasing their new products into their market instead of the United States or anywhere else. So which is the latest product set to appear solely in European soil? It’s none other than the new Alfa Romeo 149 vehicle.

Carrying a four-door hatchback design, the new Alfa Romeo 149 is set to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. While no production model has yet to be created, Alfa Romeo has been able to come up with a rendering of the vehicle, which by the way, was first posted at the Italian magazine Omni Auto.

Based on the rendering, it seems that the Alfa Romeo 149 will be sporting a very small and inverted triangle-shaped grille. Hopefully, this will still be good enough to take in air to keep its engine and components from heating up. Another unique thing that Alfa Romeo incorporated into its design is to have the license plate placed on the driver side instead of the middle.

So with a unique design in place, can this new vehicle live up to its appearance and perform when called into battle? Apparently it can. One of its features that can help the vehicle do just that is its new platform, known worldwide as the C-Evo. Aside from a new platform, the new Alfa Romeo 149 will be equipped with a 1.4 T-jet engine that’s able to give produce between 120 to 150 horsepower. Lastly, it will also carry a chassis similar to that of the Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta.

And if you thought that this is all that Alfa Romeo will be doing for its new 149 series, think again. On top of the standard model, the Alfa Romeo 149 will also have a GTA version, which will be carrying a more powerful 1.6-liter or 1.8-liter engine.

So if you happen to live in Europe or you happen to be in the area where the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show will be held, you might want to check out the new Alfa Romeo 149. It’s just too bad that we won’t be seeing this baby anywhere in the U.S.

Saab has already set plans in motion to have its newest vehicle appear at next year’s Detroit Auto Show. But despite its scheduled appearance next year, the people at Chile may be lucky enough to have the opportunity to own one even before the new vehicle is unveiled. Talk about having lady luck by your side.

The new Saab vehicle in question is the 2010 Saab 9-4x. The vehicle recently appeared in the Saab Chile website, sporting a wide array of colors. The construction of this vehicle was a result from joint venture between Rüsselsheim, Germany engineers, and the Trollhättan (Sweden). So how well was this vehicle constructed?

Based on reports, the new Saab vehicle will be given a 2.0-liter turbo mill engine that’s capable of producing 245 horsepower at 5,300 RPM. It will also be able to give out 295 lb-ft of torque as well. As for speed, the new Saab 9-4x will able to run from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.4 seconds. Putting the pedal to the metal will allow you to generate a top speed of 155 mph when driving this baby on the highway. And if you’re the type who values fuel economy, well, you’re – just like the people from Chile – in luck. According to Saab, the 2010 9-4x will only make you eat up 25 mpg when driving in the city and 37 mpg when you’re speeding down the highway. That’ll give you a good excuse to drive at high speeds.

Combined with this powerful and efficient engine is a six-speed sequential Sentronic gear box, which Saab hopes will allow the 2010 Saab 9-4x to perform at its very best.

Although the Saab Chile website as of this moment is under construction, it did give us an idea as to how much this vehicle will be worth when it goes out. According to the site, the 2010 Saab 9-4x will have a price tag of $66,000. That includes taxes by the way.

This October is going to be the month where Lamborghini launches one of its most anticipated products for the year. And the company is doing it in one of the biggest motor shows, The Paris Auto Show.

Since we know that it’s going to be a new sports car, the question right now is, has anyone seen a glimpse of what it’s going to look like? Any spy shots? Because, unfortunately, Lamborghini is keeping mum about the whole thing. The only thing the company has given us so far is that “it’s not just a new model, it’s a new world.” Yup, that’s what Lamborghini said.

All we know about this mystery Lamborghini is that there’s a possibility that it will be a four-door vehicle. Another info circulating around the net is that this new Lambo car will have a mid-engine that will be mounted behind the front axle, just ahead of the passenger’s side of the vehicle. Other than, we’re left clueless. No official images or announcements. Nothing.

So, until October 1 finally kicks in, we’ll just have to settle for the teaser image posted above that Lamborghini released. Where are the paparazzi when you need them, right?

The Veyron Just Got Sportier

September 17, 2008

The Bugatti Veryon has already been touted as one of the world’s fastest car. When you have that title locked in, you’re definitely under a lot of pressure to maintain that recognition. So how do you make sure that you’re able to retain that coveted title? By building a sportier version of your top car, that’s how.

The sport version of the Bugatti Veyron, which will be called the Veyron GT, is set to make an official debut at next year’s Geneva Auto Show. So what makes this the sports version special? Aside from a new color scheme, the new Veyron GT is being touted to produce an outstanding 1,350 horsepower! It’s that powerful baby! Aside from producing that much power, the sports version of the Veyron is also expected to hit the top speed of 264 mph. With this speed, there’s no doubt that it’s going to give the competition a run for their money.

But if you thought that’s all the Veyron GT brings to the table, then you have another thing coming. What makes this sports version a cut above the rest is how fast it’s able to accelerate from 0 km/h to 100 km/h. Unlike other sports cars (or even supercars, for that matter), the Veyron GT can hit the 100 mark in just 2.4 seconds. That’s right; it’s even faster than the 3-count pinfall of professional wrestling. Not only can it accelerate that fast, it’s also able to decelerate a lot quicker, dropping down to 0 km/h in just 2.2 seconds.

So if you like your cars fast, sleek and very powerful, then you might want to keep an eye on Bugatti’s Veyron GT. It may not be as fast as a speeding bullet yet, but at the rate they’re making it, don’t be surprised if its future version gets to have the same type of speed.

On its own, an Aston Martin car already looks like a Hollywood celebrity. It’s stylish and luxurious. However, since even Hollywood celebrities have the need to accessorize every once in a while, Aston Martin felt that their vehicles deserved the same kind of treatment. So what did this luxury car company give to their vehicles? Well, just the best in-car audio system in the market today, that’s what.

Teaming up with Bang & Olufsen, Aston Martin was able to incorporate into their vehicles the BeoSound DBS system. What makes this audio system special? Well, for one, it’s only exclusive to Aston Martin. So, you pretty much won’t see this anywhere else. Another nice thing about this new audio system is that it’s able to seamlessly fit into the interior design of the vehicle. It’s able to do this thanks to the aluminum finish of its speakers. This means you won’t have to worry about it jumping off your dashboard or it becoming an eye sore. Also, once the system is activated, twin acoustic lens speakers come out, adding a touch of flair every time you turn on your audio system.

The BeoSound DBS system, which consists of 13 individual speakers, is equipped with a Digital Signal Processing system that’s unique to Bang & Olufsen. This system controls the musical performance of the system to give you a better sound experience. It also has the ICEpower® technology, which provides the audio system with more power and better sound quality. Aside from the two features, the system has two tweeter units that are powered by the Acoustic Lens Technology or ALT. These tweeter units are mounted on each side of the dashboard. Aside from these two tweeters, the ALT also powers five mid-range speakers, three more tweeters and woofers. This includes the system’s 200mm subwoofers found in the vehicle’s rear seat.

So if you’re the type of Aston Martin owner who demands good sound quality whenever you play your music, make sure that your Aston is equipped with a BeoSound DBS system. It’s guaranteed to provide you with stellar sound quality that will make you look forward to driving to your next destination.
